Ilha Armona is a small island located in the Parku Natury Ria Formosa. It is a popular vacation destination, known for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and peaceful atmosphere.
How to get to Armona Island?
The most popular way to get there is by ferry. Ferries run regularly from various points along the coast; we traveled from Olhão, the closest, and the crossing took about 15 minutes.
Armona is the name of the western side of the island, and the eastern side is called the Ilha da Fuseta, also a wonderful place....
The island's name is of Celtic origin, but the first fishing settlements were not established until the 20th century. Today there are about 800 houses here, the vast majority of which are tourist accommodations built in the 1970s.

After arriving at the shore, one enters the promenade, about 1.5km long, which leads to the beautiful beaches by the ocean. There are bars, restaurants, stores by the harbor, the main beach by the ocean also has 2 bars. I had a lot of fun looking at the interestingly decorated houses, fickle plants and ocean decorations in the gardens along the way.
We were taken off the main trail sideways at one point, so we spent time looking into the nearby bays of the western part of the island, peeping at wildlife Ria Formosa, including crabs, clams, birds and fish of various species.
A beautiful and interesting place, soft, light sand, the water even azure, I flew around a bit with my drone, and here's what we could see from up there... 😉👇🏻 Ria Formosa at low tide ...
I highly recommend visiting this magical place in the Algarve 🇵🇹
